Embark on an immersive workshop with us, where the captivating realms of both functional and culinary fungi come alive. Journey through the functional fungi of Chaga, Red-belted Polypore, Turkey Tail, and numerous others that thrive beneath our feet in the Boreal Forests of Newfoundland and Labrador. Join us as we guide you through an experiential adventure that transcends the ordinary.
Workshop Highlights:
Functional Fungi:
Venture into the fascinating realm of the forests functional fungi as we introduce you to the wonders of Chaga, Red-belted Polypore, Turkey Tail and many more that grow right here in our own boreal forests. Learn the art of responsible foraging and gain insights into the diverse benefits of these functional fungi. These have all been pre harvested.
Fireside Fungi Tasting:
During our break we’ll experience the warmth of the crackling fire as we serve up some of our favourite steaming hot fungi drinks. We’ll share with you how to brew your own mushroom elixirs and discover how these beverages can be both delicious and healthful. I’ll open all my fermenting jars of fungi and misos for us to taste!
Cooking with Forest Bounty:
In our afternoon session guests will not only learn to create simple, flavorful additions to build their wildcrafted pantry but also explore the alchemy of blending nature's gifts into everyday meals. From aromatic misos, fermented mushrooms and dried culinary mushroom blends, you'll leave with a collection of take-home treasures that promise to elevate your food moments. Join us and discover a whole new dimension of flavor, bringing the magic of the forest directly into your kitchen.

Gain a deeper understanding of the health benefits associated with functional mushrooms. Discover how these humble forest treasures can support your well-being and enhance your culinary experiences.
This workshop is a delightful blend of education, hands-on experiences, and culinary delights, offering a unique opportunity to connect with nature's bounty in a whole new way. Come ready to expand your horizons and embark on a journey of mushroom magic!
Our day will start at 1 and run approximately 3 hours with a maximum of 6 people
We will enjoy lots of snacks, coffee, tea throughout the day but please have your lunch before you arrive and we will start our day with a hot delicious fungi drink and moms baked goods
This experience is located in the town of Mobile, at Food Culture Place HQ. Directions will be sent by email a week before your day
We will be inside for much of the day but dress in layers because if we can we will enjoy some time around the fire outside. Keep an eye to the weather to keep you comfortable. The fire will be in the yurt but make sure you have a sweater 🙂
